Benefits Of Apple Cider Vinegar

Some call it a cure-all…here is what science says it can…and can’t do-

⇒ Lower blood sugar:  No vinegar has been shown to significantly alter or prevent diabetes, but acetic acid can be used as one tool in helping lower blood sugar.

⇒ Heart disease and cancer:  Studies show it can reduce blood pressure and cholesterol in rodents, but full-blown studies have not been conducted in humans. It has also been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in mice. No word on that for humans yet, either.

⇒ Weight loss:  There is some evidence it can help. In a study, people lost an average of 2-4 pounds per month over a placebo.

⇒ Mosquito bites:  It helps. If you have a lot of bites, put two cups in a full tub of water and soak.

⇒ All-purpose cleaner:  The acid is effective against mold, but so are salt, lemon juice, hydrogen peroxide, tea tree oil and baking soda, and they smell better. Apple cider is great against alkaline grime such as hard water and mineral deposits, as well as soap scum, but it won’t cut grease.
⇒ Cough and sore throat:  Bad idea. It could irritate the throat even more, and because it is an acid, could even ‘burn’ the lungs a little.

⇒ Teeth cleaning & whitening:  Don’t go there. You’re putting acid on your teeth, thus wearing down the enamel, and causing cavities.
