Much Needed Rain Over The Next 24 Hours

It’s going to get very wet tonight as Tropical depression Erin approaches.

The heaviest rains, up to 100mm in some places will be over the western half of the province. The strongest winds with gusts between 70 and 90kph possible will be over eastern Nova Scotia and Cape Breton but they could also get up to 50mm of rain.

That much rain over 12-17 hours could cause flash flooding, especially in areas prone to it.

The leaves are still on the trees so them blowing around in the wind could come down and take out power lines. Nova Scotia Power will activate its Emergency Operations Centre at noon.
