Can you believe we’re nearly halfway through the “new” year? Researchers are taking a look back at 2016, the year that was, and have compiled data on the most popular baby names from last year.
At the top of the girl’s list, Emma is #1, followed by Olivia and Ava; other popular names include Sophia, Charlotte, Emily, and Harper. Newly popular names include Kehlani, Royalty, Saoirse, Ophelia and Alessia.
Over to the boys, and Noah is #1 among names, followed by Liam and William (a perfectly respectable 3rd place, thank you!). Mason, Benjamin, Jacob, and Elijah are included on the list as well; new boy’s names on the rise include Kylo (named after the new Star Wars villain Kylo Ren), Adonis, Creed, and Zayn.
Some very interesting new names on the rise…funny how the boys are influenced by movies a bit more than the newly popular girls’ names. But, despite what’s popular year-to-year, it seems you can’t beat the classics!
